Sassy Saturday: Clubbing in Tribal
Once again, I know its not Saturday, but I'm a little out of pocket right now. I am out of town for a family emergency. Any who...Remember that white blazer I posted on the very first day? Grab that and the pants from yesterday. Add a printed bustiere and an ethnic necklace. There you go...two items from two different looks create a third! This is how you make your work wardrobe work for you even for a night out at the club!

Functional Friday: Mustard vs. Ketchup
Hi guys! I know it's not Friday, but this is what I was going to post on Friday. I have been unable to get to my computer due to a family emergency. I'm back now, so let's get back to business. On Thursday I posted about brightening up your look with gold or red pants. Well, why should we stop with that! If you are going to go bold, don't hold back. Which is why I chose two variations of color blocking. There's contrasting color blocking on the left (where you use contrasting colors, duh) and there's complimentary blocking on the right (where you use complimentary colors). Yes, you might want to pull out your color wheel from 7th grade art class. Although it may look like you threw on any color, it truly is an art form to create this look. So go out there and paint the town red (or gold)!

Trendy Thursday: Mustard vs. Ketchup
Ask someone what they like on their hot dog, corn dog, or burger; among many toppings one of them would probably be mustard, ketchup, or both. Ask someone what they like on their legs, mustard or ketchup...they might think you have a creepy fetish! Whatever the response, these two colors (not condiments) are all the rage! It's bright, it's fun, and it might make you stop at your local Sonic restaurant!

Wear 2 Work Wednesday: Naughty or Nice
On Saturday, I showed you a look that was functional for running errands. I also encouraged that you can always looked pulled together even on your most casual days. As discussed on Saturday, the key to that is pairing your work tops with casual bottoms. Today, I decided to show you how those two tops can translate into two totally different work-appropriate looks. Withs so many companies downsizing, we often find ourselves wearing multiple hats in the office. Sometimes depending on the colleague, boss, or client we have to either charm them or intimidate them. And if your office is schizophrenic like mine, these roles can change on a day to day basis. So on those days you have ask a colleague to help you on a project, embrace a non-threatening lady-like silhouette (no one would ever suspect you are going after their job). Think Michelle Obama--pop of color, bold print, kitten heels, and classic jewelry with a modern twist (the strands of pearls shown below are intertwined with chain links). On those days when the claws must come out and you want to let your client know you will get the job done, go for a more androgynous silhouette. The dark colors and the long, lean lines (the length of the pant, height of the shoe, and deep-v neckline of the vest) exude power; and every one around you will know you mean business. The on trend sheer blouse commands that you are still a lady, and will be treated as such! In other words...lets just say...you are the the dominatrix of the office (and the killer booties to kick some butt don't hurt). This is why I love fashion. Clothes tell a story about the person. Clothes can even lie for you, and make you whomever you want to be. The two tops from Saturday whether worn together or separate can give you three distinctly different looks.

Sassy Saturday: Coffee at Starbucks or Soup at Panera
It's the weekend! Like most, you have so many errands to run on your two days off. Whether you have to go to the grocery store, laundrymat, or hair salon, you should still find the time to do something you enjoy. Make time to get some reading done at Panera Bread or chat with the girlfriends over some coffee at Starbucks. Whatever you decide on, look good while doing it. It's easier than you think. People tell me I always look put together; and honestly, I always feel like I just threw something on. Here's my secret--I'm too cheap to buy a seperate weekend wardrobe. Think about it. You work five days out the week, so naturally your wardrobe probably reflects that. The tops you wear to work can easily be incorporated into your weekend look. You really only need a few pear of jeans and a few other casual bottoms. Today's example is as effortless as it looks. Pair it with loafers or boots. Add aviators to block the haters, and you are good to go! The reason I stress being pulled together for some of the most mundane outings is because not only will you feel better about the day, but you also never know when you might meet a potential employer or "man" (if you are single, of course). So grab the iPad and enjoy the weekend.

Functional Friday: The Cocktail Short
It's Friday! Maybe you have plans for a night out on the town, and you took a glance at the shorts I posted yesterday; but you just don't know how to wear them. Well have no fear that is why I am here. On Fridays I will show you how to make the trend fit your reality.
The combinations of a great outfit with these fancy shorts are endless. Today, I have decided to pair them with a chunky, knit sweater. The pairing of a utilitarian, wool sweater and dainty, sequined shorts makes this look work for dinner with the beau or drinks with the girls. But, I'm still sensing some apprehension from some of my readers. Ladies trust me when I say this: The Cocktail Short is for every size and every age. If you are in your 20's, 30's, 40's, or 50's (yes, I've seen you ladies, and you guys definitely have the confidence and style), you can wear this. So how you ask?

- The Cocktail Shorts are NOT tight hotpants. This means the appropriate fit is trouser-like (relaxed and comfortable). Get a length that you are confident in (keep in mind that a tailor can let out the hem if necessary).
- If you are a woman that is concerned about extra weight in your midriff, go for an option similar to the sweater on the right. It has a "loose" fit that softly sweeps away from the body. The long-length will also help elongate your midsection. The right fit is key. Don't wear a sweater that is simply just big in size, it will do nothing for your silhouette.
- If you are a woman that is concerned about extra weight in the bottom half (Why? You silly woman, lol), go for a silk short. The lace and sequin options tend to be not only bulkier in material, but visually, they are loud and can attract the eye to that area (again, Why? I wish!). When wearing a silk short, go for one with lining. That will ensure that everything will stay in the right place. Also, wear a good undergarment. Silk can be a "carefree" type of material if you know what I mean.
- A short hem, black tights, and black heels!!!! Need I say more? Your legs will look slim and go on for miles!!!!!
